ABOUT US
Janel and dan met back in Phoenix 2007 in the ole fashioned way - at a bar. More precisely, the local juke joint known as the Rhythm Room, Janel’s whimsical whirling and witty banter bewitched Dan, while his dance moves entertained, if not enticed.
Much to Dan's dismay Janel set her sights on friendship as she was seeing other people, despite Dans prescient insight that none could never love her like he.
As time went on and their friendship developed Janel began to see that maybe Dan was right - none of those other men COULD love her the way he could!
They dated happily in 2008, but big changes in lives and careers took them away from Phoenix--and one another.
For the next 11 years Janel and Dan grew in their own lives, separately developing relationships, and careers. Fate interceded in 2019 when Janel blew into the Windy City for a design project. She had gotten word that Dan had moved back, and an online outreach resulted in a reunion that rekindled the flame. With 1400 miles between them, Janel and Dan were not certain this could ever fully develop into something serious. then 2020 changed all our lives and priorities and the couple decided to fully commit to making their unlikely romance work.
Dan started making more visits of ever longer duration to Miami, they took romantic jaunts to the nation’s finest secondary markets (hello Pittsburgh and Baltimore!) and by her birthday in March 2023 it was clear their best path was together. Dan hid his proposal message in a bespoke crossword puzzle, which Janel was clever enough to deduce AND agree to!
Today, they share a home in Miami with 2 cats and 1 golden retriever and retain a residence in Chicago. They love their connections to their hometowns and families, and the ability to build on their individual strengths and successes while creating a happy life together. They are so excited to celebrate their love on their wedding day and beyond.
